Quality Control

How We Do

Quality
Control

Our Hatchery runs on a next generation business process where we are equipped with holistic facilities & in-house lab to manage quality of water conditions & shrimp.

Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) and Specific Pathogen Tolerant (SPT) Broodstock

In line with our vision to practise sustainability, we have cultivated SPF and SPT shrimp that have passed through a rigorous disease screening process and are found to be free from specified pathogens of concern. Our shrimp are more tolerant to bacteria like Vibrio and is suitable to adapt to Malaysia’s environment, which results in higher survival rate and adaptable to the growing consumption demand.

Innovating Work Processes with Technology

As pioneering industry players, we have learned to innovate and integrate new technologies into our business processes instead of relying on traditional methods by working with IT personnels to develop our very own recording software to ease our daily work flow. The program functions as a database to record and review shrimp conditions, water quality, shrimp feeding program, customer feedback and many others which helps us to be aware of the well-being of our hatchery.

Water Filtration

To avoid possible polluted water, our water source comes from the ocean near the hatchery, this is made possible by building a 3 km-long pipe from the sea that provides our shrimp-cultivating waters. The marine water will go through an extensive filtration and treatment process before it reaches our hatchery. With the process in place, the waters that flow in our hatchery are contamination-free.

In-house
lab

At Confa Hatchery, we have an in-house laboratory to perform thorough and routine checks on water conditions as well as shrimp tissues.

With our stringent biosecurity measures and amassed experience, we are quick to identify emerging problems, and to provide solutions with confidence. We truly understand the importance of maintaining good quality water for the shrimps to thrive.

Shrimp Disease Test

Thorough PCR test for broodstock, nauplii and post larvae.

Shrimp Quality

Perform regular stress test on our shrimp and ensure they are growing healthily.

Water Quality

  • Tests the levels of alkali, pH & salinity, magnesium, calcium, chlorine, amonia nitrite & amonia nitrate, DO (dissolved oxygen), water hardness, iodine and settlement solids in the water.
  • Equipment used: Multiparameter Photometer.

Vibrio (TCBS) & Marine Agar Plate Test

  • Tests on diseases such as WSSV, TSV, IHHNV, IMNV, SHIV, YHV, EMS (AHPND), EHP, VH.
  • Regular checks on the condition of marine water and shrimp tissue.

Microscopic Checks

  • Ensure microplankton are healthy to be consumed by the shrimps.
  • Detailed check on the condition of shrimps for any possible fungal attachments and regarding the symmetry of the shrimps according to growth stages.
